Scottish Piper Hire

My name is John Gillies. I am a Glasgow based Bagpiper and I have been playing the bagpipes for over 20 years, competing at local and national competitions both solo and with various pipe bands.

I started Scottish Piper Hire when I moved to Glasgow from the Isle of Skye in 2012 and I have a vast experience of piping at weddings and various other functions all over the United Kingdom. Some of the highlights include: winning the G3B World Pipe Band Championships in 2024, Playing for the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles at The Royal Braemar Gathering, being cast in the film ‘Maid of Honour,’ meeting Patrick Dempsey, as well as even being asked to play at St Paul’s Cathedral!

If you would like me to play at your event please don’t hesitate to contact me via the link below or through my contact section, where I will provide information on availability and will be able to answer any other questions you may have.

We asked John to play for our wedding day and he didn’t disappoint. He arrived in plenty of time to tune up and was willing to play for photographs and guests throughout the day. He was able to make our special day even more special.

We were delighted that John was able to play at our wedding. He arrived early to organise the plan of action and was more than happy to play for all guests arriving to the Chapel as well as the wedding party. He then lead the wedding party and marched over to the reception in Bute Hall and piped in the top table. He was professional in playing throughout the day and was a joy to have, the guests loved him.
